1. Draw patient sample using a collection syringe
a. Harvest bone marrow b. Mix marrow with anticoagulant

2. Transfer bone marrow to the Art 21 BMC device
a. Unscrew and reserve the clear cap located on the top port.
b. Remove the caps from the clot filter. Connect the filter to the Art 21 BMC device.
c. Connect the collection syringe to the clot filter, and then slowly transfer the sample.
d. Close the top port using cap from step 1.

3. Spin and Re-suspend
a. Load Art 21 BMC into the centrifuge. Use counter balance if needed.
b. Centrifuge for 12 minutes at 3200 RPM.
c. When the spin cycle is completed, transfer the Art 21 BMC to the processing tray.
d. Attach the harvesting syringe to side port. Press the Start button.

4. Extraction and Transfer
a. When blue and green lights start blinking, draw 3 mL.
b. When blue light is solid and green light is blinking, draw another 3 mL.
c. Remove syringe and present to sterile field.
d. Attach transfer tubing and transfer cell concentrate.

Instructions for Use
Intended Use
The Art 21 BMC is intended to be used in a clinical laboratory or intraoperatively at the point-of-care for the preparation of a cell concentrate from bone marrow.
Summary and Principles
Bone marrow is drawn from the patient and mixed with anticoagulant. The bone marrow is transferred to the Art 21 BMC device. The device is loaded into a centrifuge and spun at 3200 RPM for 12 minutes. After centrifugation, the device is then loaded onto a processing tray. The bone marrow concentrate is collected with a sterile syringe and then presented to the sterile field. The transfer tubing and syringe provided are used to transfer the concentrate back to the sterile field.
CAUTION: Federal law restricts this device to sale and use by or on the order of a physician, or to a clinical laboratory; and use is restricted to by or on the order of a physician.
The Art 21 BMC is a single-use disposable device. Do not reuse or re-sterilize. Follow manufacturer instructions for utilization of the centrifuge. Do not use after the expiration date. Do not use the contents if this kit is opened or damaged. The physician must be thoroughly familiar with the equipment and the surgical procedure prior the utilization of the device. The patient is to be made aware of general risks associated with treatment and the possible adverse effects.

Art 21 BMC is sterilized by gamma radiation. Do not re-sterilize. All products provided are sterilized and packaged by the manufacturer. All items are sterile if the package is undamaged or unopened.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Appropriate specimens should be collected and transported according to the establishment protocols. Use standard transfusion guidelines for clinical use of the cell concentrate.
